Contexto
A neuralgia do trigêmeo (NT) é uma doença neuropática crônica caracterizada por dor facial unilateral, recorrente e intensa, na distribuição de um ou mais ramos do nervo trigêmeo.
Discussão
Embora sua prevalência seja relativamente baixa, a NT permanece uma das síndromes dolorosas mais debilitantes devido à sua intensidade e natureza imprevisível. Esta revisão tem como objetivo resumir o conhecimento atual sobre a fisiopatologia, os critérios diagnósticos e o tratamento da neuralgia do trigêmeo, incluindo opções farmacológicas e cirúrgicas.
Conclusões
A neuralgia do trigêmeo continua sendo uma condição desafiadora que requer uma abordagem individualizada e multidisciplinar.
